Göteborg: Asada World Champion Ladies

- Mao Asada (JPN) is the new World Champion Figure Skating Ladies. She achieved a Total Score of 185.56 points. Asada became 2nd in the Short Program with a Personal Best score of 64.10 points. With an empresive Kür in the Free Skating, after a fall in the beginning, she achieved 121.46 points. The 17 year old skater from Japan became last year at the World Championships in Tokyo 2nd.
Carolina Kostner (ITA) became 2nd in the Total Ranking and won the silver medal. She scored 64.28 points in the Short Program and became 1st in the ranking. With the Free Skating she became 3rd with 120.40 points. Although her Total Score of 184.68 points was a Personal Best, this was not enough for the European Champion to also win the World Title.
The 3rd place was for Yu-Na Kim (KOR). In the Short Program she became 5th with 59.85 points, but she won the Free Skating with 123.38 points. Her Total Score of 183.23 points brought her for the second time on a row the bronze medal at a World Championship.
Last years World Champion Miki Ando (JPN) ended in the Short Program on place 8 and could not continue the competition due to an injury.
